male chihuahua doesn’t know how to be walked?
My male chihuahua is about 1 year and a half old and he still doesn’t know how to go for walks. He never relieves himself and occasionally doesn’t know to continue walking if my other dog isn’t around to lead him, she’s younger by 2 weeks. He also rarely lifts his leg to urinate.
When we walk him outside, he’s excited for a bit and then starts getting bored, doesn’t want to walk, and tries to hide underneath parked cars, etc. in order to stop walking. If our family goes out for the day and we take the dogs on the car, he will refuse to pee or poo outside or on the wee wee, training, pad we keep on the car, but instead hold it in all day and go on his training pad as soon as he gets home. He never goes on himself or the car though, he just hold it in all day.
Any help?? or tips?
Sounds like you did not leash train him properly when he was young. Just keep walking and gently remind him when he tries to stop that it’s time to walk. Don’t take a pee pad. There is no need for it. When he needs to use the bathroom he will. Taking the pad only confuses things.
